Nutritional Sciences Minor - All Campuses


EXPLORE YOUR LOVE OF NUTRITION!

If you're passionate about nutrition but not sure if the nutrition majors are right for you, consider the minor! A nutrition minor may complement your major and increase your skill set. It also gives you a competitive edge in the job market, since nutrition is relevant to many different careers, including nursing, pharmacy, medicine, and other healthcare fields.

The nutritional sciences minor requires 18 total units and can be completed on campus or online.

Approved courses include:

  • NSC 101: Introduction to Human Nutrition
  • NSC 255: Food and Culture
  • NSC 301: Nutrition and the Life Cycle
  • NSC 310: Health and Disease
  • NSC 315: Sports Nutrition
  • NSC 353: Food Science and Safety
  • NSC 375: Diet, Genes, and Disease
  • NSC 376: Bioactive Food Compounds
  • NSC 455: Mediterranean Diet and Health Study Abroad

In order to declare a minor, you must be a UA student with a declared UA major. Students may elect to pursue the nutritional sciences minor, OR the sports nutrition minor, OR the food systems minor. Students are not eligible to complete multiple minors within the school.

Majors within the school are not eligible to declare a nutritional sciences minor, sports nutrition minor, nor food systems minor. NSC majors interested in taking the sports nutrition or food systems classes should contact their academic advisor to discuss a thematic minor

Sports Nutrition Minor - Main Campus and AZ Online Campus


 

EXPLORE YOUR LOVE OF FOOD AND FITNESS!

If you're interested in the growing field of sports nutrition, this minor is a great place to start! Adding the sports nutrition minor gives you a competitive edge in today's job market, whether you want to pursue a career in the field or as an additional set of skills to complement your other studies. Experience with sports nutrition is relevant to many different careers, including dietetics, strength conditioning coaching, professional training, tactical strength and conditioning, physical activity research and education, and athletic coaching at all levels.

The Sports Nutrition minor requires 19 total units and can be completed on main campus or Arizona Online.

Weight Inclusive Health - Main Campus and AZ Online Campus


EXPLORE NON-WEIGHT-BASED CONCEPTS OF WELLNESS

If you're interested in learning about weight stigma - what it is, how to spot it, and how to combat its effects on health outcomes - this minor could be a great fit! The weight inclusive health minor provides an overview of the frameworks available to provide weight inclusive care to individuals across the lifespan. Knowledge of weight-inclusive care principles and practices will be an asset to those who want careers in healthcare and other "helping professions."
