About:
Vanessa Fisch graduated from the University of Arizona in 2021 with her masters in 2021 with the Applied Nutrition Program. During her time within the Nutritional Sciences Department, she discovered a love and passion for teaching the future of dietitians. Since completion of her dietetic internship, she has discovered a passion for not only teaching, but critical care as well. While working with Banner University Medical Center Tucson, she spent time in all ICUs including Neurosurgery ICU, Cardiac ICU, Medical ICU, and true love and passion for Surgical and Trauma ICU and Burn ICU/Progressive Care units – with focus on complex wounds as well. During her time with the Burn Team, Vanessa provided nutrition education to general surgery residents, as well as created a system wide Nutrition Policy for Burn patients. These experiences have taught and shown Vanessa the diversity and the complexity behind each individual patient that she encounters and how to adapt her teaching/interactions with patients and their family members as nutrition therapy is hardly ever black and white. As a former student and clinical dietitian, with transition to faculty, her goal is to provide students with a solid foundation moving forward in your career paths when it comes to the application of nutrition therapy while also creating a positive learning environment for students to thrive in!
