Nutritional Sciences Minor - All Campuses

If you're passionate about nutrition but not sure if the nutrition majors are right for you, consider the minor! A nutrition minor may complement your major and increase your skill set. It also gives you a competitive edge in the job market, since nutrition is relevant to many different careers, including nursing, pharmacy, medicine, and other healthcare fields.

The nutritional sciences minor requires 18 total units and can be completed on campus or online.

Approved courses include:

In order to declare a minor, you must be a UA student with a declared UA major. Students may elect to pursue the nutritional sciences minor, OR the sports nutrition minor, OR the food systems minor. Students are not eligible to complete multiple minors within the department.

Majors within the department are not eligible to declare a nutritional sciences minor, sports nutrition minor, nor food systems minor. NSC majors interested in taking the sports nutrition or food systems classes should contact their academic advisor to discuss a thematic minor

Nutrition and Food Systems Minor - Main Campus Only

If you're curious about the complex relationships between culture, economics, policy and marketing, and the food system, this minor just might be for you! A food systems minor prepares you to lead the way in finding solutions to feed a steadily increasing population while preserving precious natural resources. Experience with food systems is relevant to many different careers, including food sales and marketing, organic food certification, the nonprofit sector, food policy and lobbying, food journalism, food entrepreneurship, and more.

The Nutrition and Food Systems minor requires 18 total units and can be completed on main campus.

Sports Nutrition Minor - Main Campus Only

If you're interested in the growing field of sports nutrition, this minor is a great place to start! Adding the sports nutrition minor gives you a competitive edge in today's job market, whether you want to pursue a career in the field or as an additional set of skills to complement your other studies. Experience with sports nutrition is relevant to many different careers, including dietetics, strength conditioning coaching, professional training, tactical strength and conditioning, physical activity research and education, and athletic coaching at all levels.
